Yes we are off to Aussie again ! This time to compete in the Mountain Designs GeoQuest 48hr race. It is Australia's premier adventure race and involves 48+hrs of non-stop endurance racing in the major disciplines of trekking, mountain biking and kayaking. As usual with adventure racing, teams of four must navigate their way through an arduous 200+km course that is only revealed the evening before the race. This time we will be faced with the novelity of canyoning and a ropes section. The race will be held in Port Macquaire between Sydney and Brisbane.
Our goal for this race is to better our 12th overall placing in last year's event and to continue our winning form in the single sex category. We have been the first single sex team for the past few years and will once again be fighting off the all male teams at every hurdle. Our team for this race is Erin Roberts who has returned to form after dislocating her elbow over Easter, Debbie Chambers, Anne Lowerson and our secret weapon Marquita Gelderman - one of NZ's most talented orienteers. This is a supported event and we are lucky enough to have the support of Debbie's Mum and Dad and Steve Cooper from Sleepmonsters.com.au - Steve will be updating the sleepmonsters website with news of the race also - so don't forget to check out his site.. Fingers crossed the weather will be warm and dry and the snakes and spiders will be fast asleep.
