Wow I can't believe we are full swing into 2011 already. This year I have signed a team up for the Adventure Racing World Champs in Tasmania, Australia in late October. My dream for 2011 is to bring together a team of four fit, passionate, compatible, experienced females who are committed to racing together for the year and giving the World Champs a really good nudge. The prospect of achieving this fills me with excitement however the tricky part will be pulling it off. There are so many variables in the sport of adventure racing, such as injuries, finances, personalities, levels of fitness, compatibility, personal and work commitments, time off work etc, that it takes a lot of hard work to pull together the ultimate team and get them to the startline of a number of events. I really envy teams that manage to pull all this off and stick together and can build on their strengths and weaknesses over a period of time and in multiple events. I am not sure what the secret is but hopefully I will discover it for myself over the next few months or so..... watch this space :)
So far the calendar I have planned for the year looks something like this:
Taranaki Travesty - January 15,16
ARC 24 hour race - March 19,20
Northface 100km off road run - May 14,15
Geo Quest 48 hour race - June 11,12
Week long training mission - August
XPD AR World Champs - October 31 - 9 Nov 2011
Our aim is to empower, inspire and enlighten other women to the joys of adventure racing, bike packing and getting outdoors. We want to inspire women to be fit enough to live the life they want and to live a life of adventure and authenticity.
