Macpac girls on top take on the Swiss alps
It is hard to believe considering a few months ago I was ready for retirement but next week we are off to take on the Swiss alps at the Apex Swiss adventure race in Interlaken Switzerland. Anne, craig and i have recruited legend coast to coaster Jill Westenra for this event and are hoping our endurance and cunning will pay off against the other 20 teams lining up on the start line. Competitors from France, Russia, Sweden, Switzerland, Singapore, Czech, Spain, Italy will vie for the top position and a free entry into the Adventure racing world championships in France later this year .
The race will start on Wednesday June 6th near Interlaken and we will be treated to Via Ferrata, rafting, alpine trekking, lake kayaking and technical trail mountain biking. We will make our way through summer green valleys and apline snow covered peaks at heights of 3000 meters. The top teams are expected to finish on June 9th and all teams will be off the course by the afternoon of June 10th. Check out the website www.theapexrace.com for race information and live tracking once the race gets under way .
Whilst racing we will also be filmed and will feature in the Wild Racers series which is currently showing on Sky Sport
